"Juda” beteken lofprysing (Genesis 29:35)

Uit Juda word ‘n groot stam van Israel gebore. Die gegewe vers is een van die mees betekenisvolle in hierdie verband: "Sy ( Lea) het nog 'n keer swanger geword en 'n seun in die wêreld gebring. Sy het gesê: “Hierdie keer prys ek die Here.” Daarom het sy die seun Juda genoem." Kyk ook na Gen 49:8-12, waar Jakob vir Juda die grootste seën gee. Uit Juda, deur Dawid, kom Christus die verlosser. Die stam van Juda (“lofprysing”) lei Israel deur die woestyn (Num2:3, 9).
